Life After Death – Part 2 “A Beautiful Bride”
1. God uses old testament examples to reveal new covenant realities.
Hebrews 8:5 They (Jewish Priests) serve in a system of worship that is only a copy, a shadow of the real one in heaven. For when Moses was getting ready to build the Tabernacle, God gave him this warning: "Be sure that you make everything according to the pattern I have shown you."

Ecclesiastes 3:15 What is happening now has happened before, and what will happen in the future has happened before, because God makes the same things happen over and over again.

2. Jesus is building a house made of people, not brick and mortar.
John 14:1 "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Ephesians 2:19 …You are members of God's family. 20 Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. 21 We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. 22 Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.

3. God will redeem our present earth, with a new perfect one.

Isaiah 65:17 I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore.

18 Be glad; rejoice forever in my creation! I will create Jerusalem as a place of happiness.
2 Peter 3:5 God made the heavens by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and
surrounded it with water. 6 Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. 7 And by the
same word, the present heavens and earth are being kept for the day of judgment. 12… On that day, he will set the
heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. 13 But we are looking forward to the new heavens
and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God's righteousness.
Revelation 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared.
2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed
for her husband. 3 I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, "Look, God's home is now among his people! He
will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. 5 And the one sitting on the throne
said, "Look, I am making everything new!" 6 And he also said, "It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the
Beginning and the End.
4. Our description of heaven actually describes the bride of Christ.
Revelation 21:9 One of the angels came and said to me, "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb."
10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal…18 The city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every precious stone… 21 The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.
