A New Covenant Part 6
A New Covenant Part 6 – “A House of Cards”
2 Tim 3:16 - Rom 8:3 - Gal 3:24 - Gal 5:4 - Acts 15:8 - Matt 5:17 - Rom 7:2 - 2 Cor 3:7 - Heb 8:13
2 Corinthians 3:7 The old covenant, with laws etched in stone, led to death, though it began with such glory that the people of Israel could not bear to look at Moses’ face. 9 If t old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious how much more glorious is the new way, which makes us right with God 11 So if the old way, which has been replaced, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new, which remains forever
-The God factor is powerful and can be dangerous because it’s anchored in our
conscience.
1. Consciences aligned to new covenant realities eliminate “A House Of Cards”
Luke 5:37 People do not pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. 38 No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. 39 And none of you, after drinking old wine, wants the new, for you say, "The old is better."
-What was said, Who said it, to whom was it said, and What's the context?
2. To stop a bad habit, replace it with a good habit that’s enjoyable.
Luke 24:49 I will send the Promise of My Father upon you. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.
Ephesians 5:18 Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,
Romans 8:11 God, who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your bodies through His Spirit who lives in you.
3. The principles of God are timeless realities and aren’t limited to the bible.
Colossians 2:16 So don't let anyone criticize you for not celebrating Jewish holidays and feasts or Sabbaths. 17 For these were only temporary rules that ended when Christ came. They were only shadows of the real thing, of Christ himself. 23 These rules may seem good, for rules of this kind require strong devotion and are hard on the body, but they have no effect when it comes to conquering a person's evil thoughts and desires. They only make him proud.
-Being “biblical” is worthless if we aren’t being Christlike.
Malachi 3:9 You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the thole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.
-My life is better when I’m tied to an eternal, generous, loving God – instead of a verse
from a former covenant.
